RT @mturro @Khoi Vinn's Beautiful Mistake http://amplify.com/u/e5fy Mike, very thoughtful perspective and much appreciated. You raise some interesting points and yes, we know not that the model you describe can't work, only that what has been created and what currently exists may not. Same could also be said (that we don't know it can't work) of Khoi's vision of a model that is more akin to "...the busy downtown heart of a city." That said, I found this part of your post intriguing: "That Flipboard takes the magazine as its prime metaphor is quite telling–even if they have stripped the form of its most compelling (perhaps even defining) components. The solution that Flipboard provides is the same as your traditional magazine–coherence."

I am certainly not an expert, just someone with a keen interest in both the traditional format and its future in digital medium, but I feel certain that there is not yet a right answer - especially having read his post and your take on it. IMO, this an important conversation and exciting time; I look forward to watching (and to the extent I can, participate in) this quest to find the balance you both seek.

Great stuff...would be awesome to partake in a group discussion with you and Khoi setting the table on this topic. You guys should definitely connect. #iPad #magazines #publishing #Flipboard
